Flag Football

Getting used to the mouth guard.
Getting instructions on hiking the ball. Being chased!
Hiking the ball.
His team - The Patriots.
Cheering on his team!
Today Tyler joined Flag Football. His team is the Patriots. At Grandma's he loves to "hike" and "tackle" the ball, so not being able to tackle will be different for him. But he did catch onto the concept of "flag football" really quick. Now if we could just get him to remember not to run after and remove the flag of his own team member! Of course, several other boys had the same problem.

Tyler did his best. He ran, he kept his mouth guard in his mouth, he ran, he spit, he ran, he hiked the ball, he ran, etc. He enjoyed finding others with the same mouth guard as his! He had a lot of fun. He will sleep good tonight.

We have a little work to do . . . . . . .. like what is Offense and Defense. What to do when our team has the ball. What color 'flag' we remove. What the whistle means when it's blown. What's our team name. And why we have to listen to our coach. Once he learns all this, the rest will be easy for him.

First Day of Preschool

Tyler enjoying his 'Bright, Sunny Day'!
Ready to go!

Tyler had his first day of preschool on August 27th. He was so excited to go back and see his teachers Mrs. Stark and Mrs. Garrett. He also couldn't wait to play with his friends Keiko and Genny!

When Tyler woke up, he was eager to get ready. Once we were ready to leave, he put on his new Buzz Lightyear backpack and walked outside. He immediately said, "It is a beautiful, sunny day!" I think he would have said this if it was raining outside, because he was so happy to be going back to school! Let's just hope his love for school continues!

T-Ball

Looks like a sharp player with the new glove, team hat and t-shirt. Learning to field the ball.
Coach teaching Tyler how to run the bases.
Coach helping Tyler bat off the tee.
Fielding the ball (yes, that's Mommy behind Tyler).
Today Tyler started T-Ball. He's on the "Reds" team. He was excited to get a new hat and shirt like everyone else.

Tyler has never played much baseball, so this was all new to him. He took to batting the ball really well. That may be his strong point in this sport.

He wasn't to bad at fielding the ball. He got down to get the grounders. And he enjoyed running after the ones that got away. He has a little trouble remembering which hand his gloves goes on.

A weakness he may have is running the bases. Perhaps once he learns where the bases are, then he will run faster to each one. Most of the boys looked lost while trying to find each base. Of course, with the other team and the adults on the field, it would be hard to find the bases.

Tyler enjoyed kicking the dirt a lot in the infield. He will have to work on not doing that. But I do think he had a good time and will want to continue learning more about this game.

I enjoyed watching Tyler and the others. It was a very entertaining time. I'll look forward to next week.
